STEP 1: APPLY & PREPARE ONLINE
Your journey begins with a simple online application. Once accepted, you'll complete foundational coursework from home at your own pace. These online modules cover essential topics like technical math, reading comprehension, career pathways in the electrical trade, and an introduction to the tools and materials you'll work with.
This preparation ensures you arrive at bootcamp ready to hit the ground running. You'll also take a knowledge verification test to confirm you're prepared for the hands-on training ahead.
APPLY NOWSTEP 2: THE 14-DAY BOOTCAMP EXPERIENCE
This is where the real transformation happens. Upon successful completion of the foundational coursework you will be contacted and placed in a cohort and scheduled for your onsite 14 day bootcamp training. You'll spend 14 days at the Lazy Q training facility in La Grange, Texas, immersed in intensive, hands-on training. Expect 10-hour days in typical electrical worker environments where you'll learn by doing—80% of your time will be spent with tools in your hands, working alongside experienced electrical Journeyworkers.
You will be training and later evaluated on essential skills like conduit bending, circuit building, blueprint reading, and electrical installations. You'll also earn industry-recognized certifications including OSHA-10 and CPR/First Aid. By the end, you'll complete a capstone project that demonstrates everything you've learned.
STEP 3: EARN YOUR CREDENTIALS
Graduation is just the beginning. After completing the pre-apprenticeship program and bootcamp, you'll continue building your credentials by finishing additional online coursework—including electrical theory, code navigation, and construction drawings.
When complete, you'll hold an Interim Credential that can qualify you to enter an IBEW-NECA Registered Apprenticeship Program, with advanced standing where recognized, and can put you ahead of the curve and closer to your journeyworker license.
STEP 4: GET PLACED IN A CAREER
You won't navigate the job market alone. PTSI serves as your dedicated advocate, working directly with IBEW-NECA programs across the state to connect you with apprenticeship opportunities. Our established industry relationships open doors you may not find on your own—and we're committed to supporting your placement where your skills are needed.

WHAT YOU'LL GAIN
During the bootcamp, you'll be fully supported so you can focus on learning. Room, board, and transportation are covered. You'll receive all the training supplies you need—including boots, tools, gloves, and safety glasses—which are yours to keep when you graduate. You'll also have access to financial literacy training, wellness resources, and dedicated support staff throughout the program.
By the time you complete the program, you'll walk away with valuable industry certifications, hands-on experience, a portfolio of completed work, and a direct pathway to a registered apprenticeship. Most importantly, you'll be prepared to have the confidence and skills to succeed on any job site in the state.
